Hotel Maison de Ville is set two and a half blocks from Jackson Square, in the French Quarter. An historic property, the hotel is thought to contain sections dating from the mid-1700s. On Toulouse Street, the main building houses the reception area, parlor, concierge desk, and nine guest rooms. There are also four former slave quarters onsite, which house additional accommodations. These are accessed via a brick-paved courtyard with cast iron fountain and tropical foliage. Nearby, on Dauphine Street, seven "Audubon Cottages" are named for the illustrious naturalist and painter, John James Audubon (he purportedly stayed here while working on his Birds of America series). Amenities include an outdoor swimming pool, considered to be the first pool ever constructed in the French Quarter. There is also a restaurant onsite.
